The Tackle Shop — Damiki Rig
Today we're going to be discussing the Damiki rig. The Damiki rig shines around your wintertime ditch fish and over brush piles. This bait is going to do good in water temperatures in the high 40s to low 50s.
You need the Damiki head from Damiki or any jig head with a 90 degree line tie. You may use any minnow style bait to include the Great Lakes Drop Minnow or the new Crush City Rapala Freeloader. Tie the bait on a 6ft-10ft fluorocarbon leader (6lb-8lb) connected to a 10lb braided line. Any medium or medium light spinning rod will work for this rig. The ALX Hover Rig Rod is perfect.
Rigging it is simple. Get your minnow style bait or a fluke, run it onto your hook with your 90 degree line tie and rig it as straight as possible.
Fish this bait using a live scope to hover it over your suspended fish in the ditches or over a brush pile. The water temperature should be in the 40s to low 50s.
